Over 20’s years ago my best friend’s sister had a little girl called Kirsty-Leigh. Little did I know back then that I would end up photographing her wedding day. When I found out Kirsty was getting married to Sinead I was over the moon for them both as I hadn’t seen Kirsty since she was about 8 years old. After arranging their ‘About You’ session in York I was able to catch up with her and get to know her fiance Sinead as well.

Whilst spending a few hours in York with them both I really started to understand what they wanted from their wedding and how they wanted me to approach their day. They didn’t want to have a huge affair but that didn’t mean that they were going to miss out on the pomp and ceremony of a ‘traditional’ wedding.

So when the day arrived I started off at Kirsty’s place to photograph her getting ready with her daughter, mother, and mother-in-law. Being part of this process as a ‘fly-on-the-wall’ documentary photographer, you really start to hear things that you wouldn’t really get to hear in an all-lady get-together. Three one-liners are now part of the top 5 I have ever heard whilst photographing a wedding. Truly priceless.

The day went without a hitch, well apart from the fact it rained all day. So, any external shots that I wanted to capture at the Town Hall or the venue, were not even going to be possible. However, the beauty of Leeds town hall is that it has some great places to shoot the newlywed couple.

Below is just a selection of shots from the day. They are such a beautiful couple and I was honored to be part of their day. Much love to you both.
