Yorkshire Wedding Photography – Laura and Chris’s Story

Laura and Chris got married at one of the best hotels in York, Hotel du Vin & Bistro, which is located just off The Mount. The wedding was a small and intimate event, with under 15 people attending the wedding itself. More family and friends then attended the evening shenanigans. The hotel was the perfect setting for such a beautiful and intimate wedding, as it was very glamorous and sophisticated, yet rather understated all at the same time. The hotel doesn’t seem to bask in its own ego. Laura and Chris chose the right venue for them and it complimented the whole composition of the wedding. It really was a perfect place for both families to share their cultural traditions and values.

Laura is from Leeds and Chris is from Aberdeen. They met through Laura’s sister Helen back in October 2013. Chris was visiting for the weekend and met Helen, Laura’s sister, for a drink. Laura decided to join them for a drink and the rest is history. They have a gorgeous little daughter called Evie who was obviously the star of the show. Throughout the day the love radiated from the newly husband and wife and their family and friends. It really was perfect.

As always, I like to start the photography journey early in the morning. I like to capture the excitement of, ‘The Big Day Has Arrived’. People have a bounce in their step and it is wonderful to capture that excitable nervousness. Usually, people are generally rushing around and the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride are the ones who are the most nervous. Not on this wedding day. Laura’s sister, Helen, was her bridesmaid and she completely nailed it as far as bridesmaids go. Helen made sure that anything and everything was in place and that Laura and her daughter, Evie, were at their happiest.

Both families had a wonderful day and there were many happy tears shed along the way. After the service, I drove both the Bride and Groom into the centre of York. My wife Hannah is from York, so I know the city well. I went for a recce around the city the weekend before as I wanted to look for a little intimate hide-away for me to photograph the newly-weds. There was a little street that lead straight towards The York Minster which framed this handsome couple and summarised the general ambience of the day. It really was a heartwarming day directed, crafted and created by a couple with the biggest hearts. I am so glad that I could play just a small part in their day.

Much Love.
