Cleethorpes Half Marathon – September 2017
My good lady wife decided that she would run ‘another’ half marathon. As always she completes these challenges with a few other runners from her running club, Selby Striders. Over the past 6 months I have been on many of these events with Hannah and got to know some of the Striders pretty well. So off we went with a few others to the Cleethorpes Half Marathon.
This weekend Hannah was not in the mood to run this half marathon (who ever is?). However, I knew that if she quit before she even attempted it then I knew she would regret it. So as part of my cunning plan I decided to say that I would run it! As a way to say that I didn’t want Hannah to waste her money. Knowing my wife quite well (I think) I knew this would only spur her on to complete it. Not that she didn’t want me to run it for her, but her competitive streak always kicks in! 🙂
So, we drove the one hour and 15 minute drive to the famous sunny seaside town of Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire. Arrived around 8.20am on Sunday morning and started to walk to the event to meet her fellow Striders.
I proud to say, as always, Hannah completed the run with no fuss. Although there was no target and no PB was achieved on the day, she completed the relatively flat course in a time of around 2 hours 4 minutes. The weather was good with a slight cool seaside breeze and moderate temperature. This has put her in good stead for the following weekend where she will be completing the Vale of York Half Marathon. Which I might add, ill also be competing in. The first one of the year!
So below are a few pics of the runners from Selby Striders and a few pics of the sea side town of Cleethorpes. Well done to the runners.
